An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a certain Internet site. Every single file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have one page with three embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the six files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log usually provides the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. In some cases you may also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the efficiency of a website, aside from the web statistics which your web hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

If you order a cloud web hosting from us, you will be able to choose if access logs must be created and for which domains or subdomains in your account this must be done. You may activate this option from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which comes with all shared accounts. Each and every domain you host or subdomain you set up shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can easily activate or disable the generation of access logs separately for every site that you have. You can save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you shall see in the same section of the Control Panel. The link will be available even if you stop the log generation, so you shall still have access to the data collected by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your Internet sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with just a few clicks in your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this function in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access when you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is one click on the On button which you can see there. The function can be triggered separately for any Internet site regardless if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find a detailed list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you could then look at it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation can be stopped by simply changing the On option to Off within the Logs section of your Control Panel.
